Our Story

Kurt built and ran American Trust Retirement from a startup into one of the 50 largest recordkeepers in the country, with over 1,100 retirement plans under administration, before its sale to EdgeCo Holdings in 2020. Fred served alongside him on the leadership team, and together they created Architect, one of the industry's first managed account platforms.

In 2026, Kurt and Fred got back together, redesigned their managed account approach from the ground up, and founded Quantum Retirement Group to bring it back to the industry — as TrueAge.

Who You'll Work With

Kurt Wedewer

Kurt is CEO and President of Quantum Retirement Group, drawing on 35 years in the retirement industry — from his early days as a pension underwriter at Cigna through building American Trust Retirement into a top-50 national recordkeeper. He's a native of Dyersville, Iowa, and now lives in Dubuque, where he enjoys sports and fitness.

Fred Sear

Fred is President of Quantum Technology and Chief Technology Officer of Quantum Retirement Group, leading the team that created and built TrueAge. Before that, he spent 19 years as Vice President of Product & Systems Development at American Trust. Fred holds a degree in Math from Clarke University and lives in Dubuque where he enjoys the outdoors.

Dilan Simon

Dilan is Vice President and Portfolio Analyst at Quantum Retirement Group, designing plan proposals and analyzing investment portfolios for clients across the firm. He holds a Series 65 license and first worked with the team as an intern at American Trust Retirement in 2019. Dilan is a graduate of the University of Iowa and lives in the Dubuque area.

Jacob Schockemoehl

Jacob is Director of Participant Education at Quantum Retirement Group, helping plan participants understand and use their retirement benefits. He built his career in client-facing advisory and insurance roles in the Dubuque area before joining Quantum Retirement Group. Jacob is a graduate of Clarke University and, outside of work, is active in his community and enjoys basketball.
